Bike & Play Summer Series

Thanks to grant support from the Martinez Community Foundation and the City of Martinez, the Bay Area Bike Project's Bike & Play Summer Series has grown into one of its largest and most impactful community programs. In 2025, hundreds of local families turned out for free monthly events at Del Cielo Brewing Co., and 2026 is already off to a strong start.

Funding helped cover event permitting and added new activities that made the series more welcoming for families of all ages and skill levels — including face painting, bubble entertainment, an air bag jump showcase, and a Balance Bike Bash for riders ages 2–5. Grant support also funded the equipment needed to run family rides safely and keep kids engaged, active, and outdoors on their bikes.

Each event kicks off with a family-friendly group ride, followed by bike games, skills practice, and community connection. Many families return year after year, and the series continues to build confidence in young riders while promoting safety and healthy, active lifestyles throughout Martinez.

Bike & Play runs every first Wednesday in June, July, and August, from 5:30–7:00 PM at Del Cielo Brewing Co. — everyone's invited to join in.
