Nourishing Lives in Martinez

Every day, Loaves & Fishes of Contra Costa provides hope, dignity, and nutritious meals to individuals and families throughout Martinez. Thanks to support from the Martinez Community Foundation, this vital work continues to grow while creating a lasting impact on both people and the environment.

During the fiscal year ending June 30, 2026, the Martinez Dining Room served 155,428 hot meals—an increase of more than 11,000 meals compared to the previous year. As demand for meal services continues to rise, MCF's investment has helped ensure that no neighbor is turned away because of food insecurity.

MCF funding also allowed Loaves & Fishes to transition to biodegradable take-out meal containers, reducing waste while continuing to meet the growing demand for meals. This investment supports both community health and environmental sustainability, reflecting the shared values of both organizations.

Beyond serving meals, Loaves & Fishes continues to strengthen community partnerships throughout Martinez. One example is its participation in the City's 150th Birthday Celebration, where volunteers partnered with the Martinez Senior Center to host a neighborhood barbecue and community celebration that brought residents together.
